I HAVE THE ANSWER. Koppel asks if governments have a legitimate authority to ban medical marijuana. I assert that the scope of the question is too narrow.
The correct questions is: whence derives governmental authority to define any article or substance as contraband? Are not any such definition and ban affronts to liberty, being inevitably followed by an oppressive initiative to enforce the ban, tax trade, or otherwise limit the public’s use of the article beyond the proper scope of government’s obligation to protect the rights of the governed and nothing more?
I assert that the answer to both questions is “No.” Well, “No” to the first and “nowhere” to the second, but you get the point.
“Hell no”, even, to the first. And, just “Hell” to the second.
