Quote of the Day

The impulse to keep to yourself what you have learned is not only shameful, it is destructive. Anything you do not give freely and abundantly becomes lost to you. You open your safe and find ashes.

—Annie Dillard

This is in keeping with my belief that non-profit and not-for-profit are some of the filthiest concepts in human history. You have to increase your inheritance or you waste it away. Take the Parable of the Talents.

  1. As a hard-core Catholic, I tend to follow the thought that you can’t take it with you. What point is there to hoarding wealth, knowledge, or any other transferable thing when at the end, it’s all going to be left behind irregardless of how much you had? Especially knowledge – you can’t win by keeping knowledge to yourself, you only make everyone else around you a little less wealthy.

Granted, that doesn’t give you the right to be an insufferable know-it-all, but all the same, if folks actually want to learn, why not teach them?
